Summary of Coding Languages & their Uses
HTML is an acronym for HyperText Markup Language. HTML is a language whose purpose is to mark up content. It was modeled on SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language), which is a declarative standard for describing document structure and attributes.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language like HTML. CSS is a cornerstone technology of the World Wide Web, alongside HTML and JavaScript.
For example, CSS can be used to define the cell padding of table cells, the style, thickness and color of a table's border and the padding around images or other objects.
Javascript (JS) is a scripting language, primarily used on the Web. It is used to enhance HTML pages and is commonly found embedded in HTML code. JavaScriptis an interpreted language. Thus, it doesn't need to be compiled. JavaScript renders web pages in an interactive and dynamic fashion.
PHP is a server side scripting language. that is used to develop Static websites or Dynamic websites or Web applications. PHP stands for Hypertext Pre-processor, that earlier stood for Personal Home Pages. PHP scripts can only be interpreted on a server that has PHP installed.
Using PHP Programming Language. Currently, Wix only supports adding HTML code, which can be added through the HTML element. Corvid by Wix, which uses Javascript, also allows the use of Java Script Libraries when using the HTML element. It is not possible to add PHP code to your Wix site.
